Nurture by definition means the process of caring for and encouraging the growth or development of someone or something.
As an action, to nurture is to care for, to tend, to grow, to meet what is with compassion.
The creation of Nurture is a reflection of my own journey through life: joy and pain, hardship and perseverance, a true labor of love. It’s rooted in the love I received as a child from my mother, who had a gift for making others feel cared for, and in the love I now extend to my family, friends, and community.
Nurture began as a quiet conversation over coffee with a friend. She shared how deeply cared for she felt in my presence, how nurtured.
The word made me uneasy at first. As someone who feels deeply and carries the weight of others’ emotions, my instinct to fix and to heal has often felt like both a blessing and a burden. But over time, I came to understand that my sensitivity is not a weakness, it’s my greatest strength. What once felt like too much is now my superpower.
To be of service is a calling. This work, this offering, is the embodiment of that calling.
Through yoga, I’ve learned that we meet ourselves moment by moment, breath by breath. My practice began in November 2017, drawn first by the movement but ultimately by the stillness, the refuge it offered during times of loss, depression, and anxiety. The mat became a space to meet all parts of myself without judgment.
In 2019, during my teacher training, I lost my mother. In that moment of profound grief, I discovered the sustaining power of yoga, the way it holds us when words cannot. I became a Registered Yoga Teacher in 2020 and began teaching in 2021.
Since then, my focus has been on service and community. Like the bee, humble not because she labors, but because she labors for others, I strive to create an inclusive environment where every student feels seen, safe, and supported. My hope is that Nurture becomes a space for connection and care, a place where you can meet yourself exactly as you are.
Moment to moment. Breath to breath. Together, we nurture.
